Fresh off of Patreon’s latest and greatest RPG porn games, we’ve got Caliross, a game with a very confusing name, but very straightforward gameplay. Patreon has been a hotbed of RPG porn game activity, to the point that I’m starting to get scared if we’re ever going to see the death of RPG Maker. It’s no secret that I hate this engine because it’s almost as old as me, and that’s a serious fucking problem.

But, game developers love using the damn thing because it lets them put their dreams on digital paper and make that shit interactive for the world to enjoy. Coding is no joke, and if you’ve never written any code in your life, RPG Maker might just be your saving grace. I don’t mind playing games made in the engine, mind you; it’s just that most of the time, it encourages people to be lazy. There’s more to porn games than just a story and some smut thrown in for good measure. You have to actually care about the game being interesting and fun to play.

Today, we’re looking at Caliross, which is among the best RPG Maker porn game titles out there, for sure, but it still leaves a lot to be desired. So, without further ado, let’s get into the various ups and downs of this smut game.

A Unique Story

This story is as unique as porn game writing can get, especially within an RPG. It’s one of two RPG porn games in which you play as a historian who is trying to uncover the mysteries of her world. However, in this one, you’re also a shapeshifter, so there’s that. Her name’s Erica, and she wants to figure out everything there is to know about her own history and the history of her race of shapeshifters. She wants to know what makes them tick and where they came from. On top of that, she wants to be rich and successful, but she has to start at the very bottom.

You start off in a major city, and a random dude-bro offers to give you a tour of the city. I played through this entire section without realizing that it basically a tutorial intro to the game. This was the very first great thing about Caliross. The game is built around the concept of telling you a fun story with branching paths and decisions. Once the tour was over, I had to find a job for this bitch, as she was broke and not the kind of girl to rely on a sugar daddy.

So, I got her a job tending to cows in a barn. It wasn’t anything flashy, but it paid the bills. 20 minutes after this point, I was punching fire demons to death. I don’t know how things escalated so quickly, but this game doesn’t like to waste any time.

Smut Filled World

Even though this world is pretty sensible and people act like real people, there’s horniness in the air at all times, damn near everywhere you go. Your character can’t be alone and sit still for five minutes at a time without masturbating. I love that about this game. Everything you do comes with smut, one way or another. Like, I went over to this informant bitch who was supposed to give me an inside scoop on a quest I was pursuing, so naturally, she had my bitch take her clothes off, and she gave her a massage until she came. Why? Who the fuck cares, it was hot shit, and I enjoyed it.

Sadly, most of this encounter was just dialogue, with a few shots of my character in a bikini. It was very hot, for sure, but I wanted to see a lot more of the action. I didn’t even get to see the other bitch’s body. For all I knew, she could have had a dick in her pants. I wouldn’t have minded that either, but it’s the not knowing that gets under my skin. I’d like to see more, if you know what I mean.

Either way, the world is stuffed to the brim with smut, and the developer is regularly coming out with new patches. The game is huge, and throughout all the story elements and some of the side quests, you’ll see Erica in sexual situations with all kinds of people. The fact that you play as a girl means that every sex scene will include at least one female. That’s a great way to filter out the gay, if you know what I mean.

The Combat

This is the one part of the RPG Maker formula that the developer didn’t seem to have altered in any way. You see the enemies in front of you on a 2D canvas, you punch them in the face, they punch you back, and you rinse and repeat until one of you is dead. This is not fun. In fact, it is the opposite of fun. It’s also very hazardous to your boner, because there’s no nudity on screen during any part of the combat. It’s just sort of thrown in there.

Luckily, you don’t explore any large swathes of wilderness, fighting wolf-dogs, or what have you, for hours on end. The combat encounters are few and far in between. Most of what you do in this game involved RPG encounters and dialogue. I’ll take more story over more combat any day. But then again, I’d prefer smut over the other two options, but alas, that takes the developer a lot more time.

Great Open World

The only thing better than a huge open world in a normal game is a huge open-world in a porn game. It’s kind of like the real world, when you think about it. When I leave the house in the real world, I know that I can go wherever I want, but no matter where I go, I will end up fucking some bitch. That’s how it works in porn games as well.

You’re given complete freedom to explore this world any way you’d like. Plus, with side-quests being an ever-present possibility, you choose how and when to be rewarded for pursuing certain storylines. The world is properly fleshed out with a lot of pre-set relationships and political factions. You can choose to get involved with these things and try to change the course of history. Or, alternatively, you can mind your own business and try hard to get fucked. I recommend the latter, unless you’re a nerd.

The Graphics

I kind of liked the graphics to the gameplay portions of this game. They were probably all just imported free assets that were pre-made for RPG Maker, but I didn’t mind because they were all used properly, for the most part. There were some exceptions when it came to certain dungeon areas of the game, where I genuinely felt like the game broke or something.

As it turned out, the game was not broken, the developer just fucked up the assets for an entire part of the game. It felt like I was moving through a dark void of nothingness, surrounded by broken textures. I don’t like that kind of immersion-breaking nonsense, but there it is.

As for the smut scenes, they’re perfect throughout. They’re extremely well-drawn and polished, and they look like scenes from some hardcore hentai. They’re only stills, unfortunately, but they’re still very fap-worthy, and I enjoyed every single one of them. Naturally, you get a bunch of text to go with them, but it’s the pictures you come for.

There are also certain half-raunchy parts of the game, like when you go in to get a tattoo. You get to see your character naked, and you can choose where to place the tattoo and what you’d want it to look like. During these parts, your character is equally hot, but kind of blocky. I guess this is a consequence of using RPG Maker.

My closing notes on this game are simple: Play the currently available version and see if it’s your cup of tea. Personally, I think it’s super easy to get into, because the developer was thinking about your experience, rather than trying to cram the game chalk full of smut. It’s not just a hot game; it’s a fun game. It flows smoothly and features a ton of RPG content that isn’t combat-oriented. That’s the kind of shit I enjoy.

As an added bonus, let me just say that in this game, you can shapeshift into a cow for sexy time purposes. I don’t know what to do with that information, so I hand it off to you. I hope you enjoy Caliross. I personally can’t wait for the 1.0 release.
